Rev. Dr. David A. Henry - Senior Pastor - [Account] - hilltopumchurch.org@pastor

The Reverend Dr. David Henry has been in pastoral ministry for 32 years serving parishes in rural, suburban and urban settings in California, Missouri, Idaho and Utah.  He specializes in working with congregations seeking a new future:  Visioning and Renewal of congregations and Transformational Conflict Mediation.  He has consulted with numerous churches of various denominations in the Intermountain West.  He is cofounder of the Intermountain Leadership Institute and the annual Salt Lake Preaching Conference for the Western U.S. 

He has a particular interest in congregational leadership in the post-modern/post-Christian church.  His doctoral studies focused on revitalizing congregations.  He has published a dozen articles on leadership, administration, and congregational renewal.  He has also written about theological themes in contemporary fiction and film.

He and wife Donna love the seashore and the mountains.  They are natives of California but have made Salt Lake their home for the past 20 years.  They have three adult children and six grandchildren.

A life-long Methodist, Leigh Anne has been a member of Hilltop since October of 2000. Leigh Anne grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas but moved to Memphis, Tennessee to major in Foreign Languages at Rhodes College where she met her husband Stuart. After graduation and marriage, Leigh Anne had a career in Radio at WRVR in Memphis. In 1992, they were transferred to Austin, Texas where Leigh Anne continued her radio life at KLBJ prior to the birth of their sons Brandon and Spencer. Just when they were settling into family life in Austin, Stuart announced that his company was transferring them to Utah. Leigh Anne stayed home to raise her boys until 2003 when she went to work part-time in advertising and graphic design. She was thrilled to become the Administrative Assistant at Hilltop in November of 2010. Leigh Anne’s other activities include a passion for music and the theatre. She is a flutist in the Murray Concert Band and the Herriman Community Orchestra, and also has played clarinet and saxophone in pit orchestras in Herriman and South Jordan. She is a member of the Herriman Arts Council and manages all their graphic design and advertising. The Duff family loves living in Herriman with their two dogs Dharma and Geordi.

Kara Hefley - Director, Mother's Morning Out - [Account] - hilltopumchurch.org@mmo

Kara Hefley is the director of the Mothers Morning Out Ministry at Hilltop.  She started out as a teacher for the program in 2006 and stepped in to the Director position in September of 2009.  Kara has an associates degree in Sociology with an emphasis in early childhood development.  She loves children and spent several years as a nanny before starting her family.

Cortney and her family have been attending church at Hilltop since they moved to Utah twelve years ago.   Cortney worked for H & R Block as a tax professional for ten years.  She is an enrolled agent with the IRS and has years of bookkeeping experience.

Roberta Shimensky, director, is currently Music Director and Organist at Hilltop United Methodist Church, where she leads the Chancel Choir and the Hilltop Gospel Choir. She was formerly on faculty of Westminster College as conductor of the Westminster Women’s Choir, Westminster Singers, Westminster Chamber Orchestra, and instructor of piano. Career highlights include: Assistant Conductor/Pianist, Kennedy Center Imagination Celebration of Salt Lake, world premiere of Libby Larsen’s opera Dreaming Blue, 2002; Conducting Fellow, Dennis Keene Choral Festival 2000-03; guest conductor, Salt Lake Symphony; Utah Opera Chorusmaster, Madama Butterfly, 2001; member, Utah Opera Chorus; performances as keyboardist for the former OPUS Chamber Orchestra and Salt Lake Symphony; accompanist for Utah Opera’s “Opera-in-the-Schools.”

Craig Jorgensen - Chancel Choir Accompanist
 

Craig is a Sandy native and resident. He attended Alta High School and then the University of Utah where he pursued study in piano performance and math. Later he attended law school in Michigan and, following a brief stint in East Tennessee, returned to Utah. He operates his own law practice and performs regularly along the Wasatch Front. He enjoys reading, waterskiing, and sushi.
